As we gather together this Thanksgiving to celebrate with family and friends, it is important to take time out and pray over just what the holiday is about. The holiday is a special time where we thank the Lord for everything He has done in our lives, and of course thank Him for our very existence. God loved the world so much that He had His Son go to the cross to bring us into a relationship with Him.
Even though we may be personally and as a nation going through difficult times, there is so much to thank Him for that it is important to take time out to give thanks. Of course, we should also be giving thanks every day for the blessings of the Lord:

6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Phillippians 4:6-7, KJV) 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Phillippians 4:6-7, NASB) |
Perhaps some of you reading this are missing out on the “peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension”, or perhaps you, a friend, or a loved one do not know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. If that is the case, there is no better time to start on that road to peace than now! While there is no guarantee that you will not have problems in this life, what you are guaranteed is that you will find a kind of peace in troubled times that the ways of the world will never deliver. The best way to start down this road is to find a good Bible believing Church, and start attending, and spending time daily in God’s Word, the Bible.
God bless all of you this Thanksgiving,
Job
