Glossary
This section describes some of the fields in the above form needed to open your web page forwarding account. Most of the terms are obvious (like First Name), so only those needing explanation are described here:
E-Mail Address
This field should be your Current, Existing E-Mail account. This address will be used to verify your order, and contact you regarding your account. To operate a web page forwarding account, we require that you have a current, active, E-Mail account registered with our service at all times.
To verify your order, your current E-Mail address will be used to send an E-Mail verification message, which informs you that a request has been made to open a web page forwarding account in your name (YOU MUST REPLY TO THE E-MAIL VERIFICATION MESSAGE BEFORE YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE OPENED).
Current Web Page Address (URL):
This field should be your Current, Existing web page address. Obviously, for this account to make sense (i.e., web forwarding), you must already have an existing web page. After you have replied to the E-Mail verification message, an attempt will be made to contact your current web page address. If the web page cannot be contacted, the request to open the account will be cancelled.
Password
This field is used to create a password for your account. Choose any password you like, but MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO GUESS.
Passwords must be between 6 and 8 characters in length, and contain mix of letters (a-z, or A-Z), and non-letters (like numbers 0-9, or special symbols like *, %, or !). This means that at least one letter must be used, and at least one non-letter must be used. Do not use blanks (spaces) or special "escape sequences" in your password. Just use the standard characters available on a PC keyboard.
The password can contain capital and lower case letters, which are treated differently (e.g., J9sxB8 is not that same password as j9sxb8). It is a good idea to use upper and lower case letters, since it makes your password more difficult to guess.
As with any account with a password (Bank PIN's, computer login accounts, etc.), you are responsible for safeguarding the password, and for remembering what the password is. If necessary, we can assign you a new password if you forget, although it will be necessary to verify your request for a new password. This reverification may be a lengthy process (week or more, since we may have to use E-Mail, regular mail, or other means to contact you).
The password is important. It allows you to update your account. This will be needed if you change your postal address, the address of your current web page address (the one you are having the web page forwarded to), or other information related to your account.
For example, suppose you have chosen the new web page address "Christ.com/yourname", and are currently having it forwarded to your existing web page, at "users.aol.com/somename/somefile.html". If you change your existing web page to
"users.aol.com/somenewname/someotherfile.html", then you will need your password to make this change. We have provided a form for making this change, which requires your password.
